Welcome to Berkeley!

As you plan to make the most of your time at Berkeley, the Office of Undergraduate Advising can help you make sure that you are on track to meet all degree requirements, that your academic plan is solid, and that you can graduate on time.

Get ready to enroll in the right classes and be prepared to make the most of your education at Berkeley:

Gear up with Orientation: Online and In Person

To best prepare yourself for academic success at UC Berkeley, it is vital that you participate in both:

  1. Online orientation (Those not completing online orientation will be at a disadvantage that may result in a delay in registering for first semester classes.)
  2. In person orientation (CalSO):
    • To register for the Cal Student Orientation (CalSO) Program, please visit the New Student Services CalSO page. (While it is critical for all new students to attend CalSO, we recognize that a few of you are unable to do so. Click here to find out what to do.)
    • Bring with you the list of courses that you generate in online orientation

Plan your program of study with the help of Academic Advisers

Academic planning is a process that involves many different factors. In addition to balancing your major, L&S, and University requirements your focus will be on your interests, skills, and abilities. Once you have done online orientation and have attended CalSO, you are invited to stop by our office for help with program planning by a professional College Adviser who can help you make sense of your progress and figure out how to fit in everything that you want to do at Cal from studying abroad to writing a senior honors thesis.
