Welcome to the College of Letters and Science!

The Office of Undergraduate Advising can help you make sure all degree requirements are complete, your academic plan is balanced and manageable, and you explore enrichment opportunities. To help with your transition to Berkeley, it is important that you participate in both online and in-person orientation. Please follow this checklist to prepare for orientation.

  1. Register for in-person orientation, Cal Student Orientation (CalSO).
      If you cannot attend CalSO:
      • Freshmen will receive information about accessing advising and enrolling in courses via email in July.
Transfer students should contact your intended major adviser about schedule planning and course registration.
      • Plan to attend a make-up CalSO orientation before classes start. You will receive registration information via email in July.
      • Be sure to complete the following steps to ensure you are not at a disadvantage when enrolling in your first semester classes.

  2. Complete the Academic Orientation at bHive.berkeley.edu before your arrival on campus.

  3. Download the Earning Your Degree guide for students. This guide describes what it takes to graduate and how to plan your studies to make the most of your experience at Cal.
